Professional data recovery (I'm more used to calling Data Recovery or simply DR) is a little-known area of โ€‹โ€‹IT. For many DR clients, the data recovery process is something mysterious and incomprehensible, especially after watching various feature films. In 20 years of work in this field, I have heard many myths, here are a few of them.

Of course, access to the firmware improves the understanding of how this or that drive model works, but this is where all the benefits end. By and large, drive manufacturers do not care whether data is recovered from faulty media or not, so do not forget to make backups.

PS: in the picture at the beginning of the article there is a HDD with broken glass plates. Information from such a drive can no longer be restored.
