The developers of the graphics editor GIMP 3.0 have released version 2.99.2 , which is considered a preliminary version of the new stable branch of GIMP 3.0. Among the main innovations are the transition to GTK3, the addition of regular support for Wayland and HiDPI, the reworking and optimization of the code, the addition of an API for developing new plugins. The ability to select multiple layers has also appeared and rendering caching has been added.
