Xiaomi launches crowdfunding for its Rubik's Cube mini PC with 8GB of RAM

Miniature computers, not single-board devices like "raspberries", but full-fledged desktop PCs of small size, are quite a niche product. Nevertheless, there are more and more of them. Only recently we talked about such a miniature desktop from Chuwi, and now a new system from Xiaomi has appeared, which is called Ningmei Rubik's Cube Mini Computer Host.

Ningmei - because this is the name of the "daughter" of Xiaomi, which is engaged in "green" projects. Well, Rubik's Cube is because the size of a computer is comparable to the size of a well-known toy. Thanks to this, the system can be put in a pocket, in order to carry it, for example, from work to home and back. The size of the new mini-computer is 62x62x42 mm.

In terms of system characteristics, the new PC is based on the Intel J4125 quad-core processor with a 2.7 GHz core. The graphics are integrated here, this is Intel UHD600. In such a small package, you would hardly expect a dedicated graphics card, so you will have to be content with integrated graphics.

The RAM is 8 GB, which should be enough for most office tasks. Plus, the system does not have a hard drive, but a 256 MB SSD M.2 form factor.

The ports here are also quite enough for most purposes - these are two USB 3.0 ports, a USB-C port, HDMI, a headphone output and a memory card slot. HDMI here supports video output in 4K quality, but the graphics system copes with the playback of such video. There is also a wireless connection - Bluetooth and WiFi.

How much is such a miracle worth? Quite a lot - around $ 149 for the base version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The configuration mentioned above will cost $ 186. There is a Marvel edition for fans of the MCU of this company. This mini-PC will cost the most - $ 201. All of these can be purchased on the Chinese crowdfunding campaign site xiaomiyoupin.

This mini-PC is practically no different from the variant mentioned above, presented by Chuwi, which also supplies miniature computers with 6 GB of RAM, a drive and an SSD slot, and two USB ports. Even the processor is the same - J4125 from Intel.
