The new release includes, among other improvements, comprehensive synthetic monitoring, significant security improvements, and IoT and industrial device monitoring.
“With this release we are approaching a new era of monitoring. We are expanding the capabilities of Zabbix with such important features as comprehensive monitoring, built-in support for IoT protocols, and also implementing the most stringent security standards, ”says Alexey Vladyshev, founder and CEO of Zabbix.
The Zabbix monitoring solution provides a number of out-of-the-box messaging, ticket and alert integrations. The new release expands the list of supported services and applications. One-click Zabbix installation is available on cloud platforms Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, IBM / RedHat Cloud, Oracle, Yandex and Digital Ocean.
Zabbix 5.2 comes with over thirty-five new and improved features.
Synthetic monitoring provides limitless flexibility for collecting metrics and checking availability using user-defined scripts. It also provides complex interoperability with various HTTP API providers, including cloud APIs.
Smart analytics . This functionality allows Zabbix to generate smart alerts using efficient data analysis and anomaly detection. This opportunity has tremendous business value, as it provides the ability to analyze and inform users about long-term changes in key IT metrics, as well as typical KPIs:
- Business performance
- Sales and Marketing
- Warehouses
- Personnel Management
- Customer support and others.
External storage . Zabbix implements integration with HashiCorp Vault to securely store sensitive information such as passwords, keys, tokens for external API access, etc.
Detailed distribution of roles . This feature is a huge step towards a more convenient, secure and manageable monitoring platform for large distributed teams and clients. The new feature provides many enhancements for a multi-user environment and allows for finer control over API access, user interface elements, and user behavior across different groups.
Support for IoT protocols . Zabbix now natively supports the most common protocols for monitoring IoT sensors and industrial equipment.
Load balancing for UI and API . Now Zabbix UI and API can be used in load balancing scenarios for HA and performance scale out. Frontend data can now be deployed as physical or virtual machines, containers on Kubernetes clusters or cloud platforms.
More detailed information on all the technical improvements of the new release will be presented and disclosed at the annual Zabbix Summit, which will be held online this year on October 30: www.zabbix.com/events/zabbix_summit_2020 .
Introduced new one-day extra courses
Along with major technical improvements, the Zabbix 5.2 release comes with an expanded training program that includes four new one-day courses for in-depth study of specific Zabbix areas. At the moment, 4 courses have been developed: "Automation and integration with Zabbix API", "Advanced preprocessing of data in Zabbix", "Advanced security administration in Zabbix" and "Improved detection of problems and anomalies with Zabbix". The new courses will be available online from November 16, 2020. A full overview of the courses available can be found on the Zabbix website .
