Every month I prepare a selection of the main mobile news for Checkaso. I decided that it was worth sharing the Russian version with Habr. In this episode: iOS 14 infuriated developers and helped Pinterest break the daily download record, changed App Store rules, Facebook's attempts to manipulate Apple, the upcoming Google Play Console update, and other high-profile stories.
Unexpected iOS 14, screen customization, widgets boost Pinterest
Suddenly (!) A new iOS 14 came out - many developers did not have time to prepare for the release and were outraged . Important for marketing and ASO: "mini-applications", auto-corrections in search, feature cards (you can read about the pros and cons here ). Out of the blue: Home screen widgets are big news . Since the release of iOS 14, home screen customization apps have been installed by about 5.7 million users in a few days . The leader was Pinterest, which broke the daily download record of 616,000 installs in one day .
Coalition Against Apple, Offer Codes and Green Light for Gaming Streaming
Apple's discontent seems to be on the rise. 13 app publishers including Epic Games, Deezer, Basecamp, Tile and Spotify have created the Coalition for App Fairness Justice League to urge Apple to rethink its store policies. Apple does make some concessions. For example, introduces other options for offers - "offer codes" , which, for example, give discounts on automatically renewable subscriptions. Apple also actually allowed gaming streaming services. True, everything is rather confusing there.

I will end the digest with an announcement - the updated Google Play Concole is expected to be released on November 2 . They promise a fresh interface and easy navigation. And by the way, about Google: they will prohibit app developers from accepting payments bypassing Google Play. Within a year, you will need to switch to the company's payment system.
