(to a rhyme from a round dance)
Hello, Habr! Someone else may remember me from the reviews that I published here long before the Vilsakoms. Having switched to Habr, I stopped doing this, because I considered it not very correct - to write publications about products in ordinary hubs, while companies need to start a blog for this. But few people know that the desire to write about interesting devices has not gone anywhere, I just began to do it less often (a couple of times a year) and elsewhere (in my blog).
And I just can't help showing one device. I'll tell you about it very briefly, without even naming a name and without giving some of its speed characteristics - the device literally hit me on the spot with its inner world. On the rights of Friday I decided to share with you.
So, we are talking about a docking station for a MacBook, which is placed under the MacBook Air / Pro (well, or it is mounted somewhere behind the monitor) - it has a high-quality unibody case. Inside - a 71.61 Wh battery, an SSD-drive (256 GB or 1 TB) and a whole arsenal of connectors: USB C β USB 3.0 β USB 3.0 β SD slot β HDMI (2.0) β mini DisplayPort (1.4) β USB 3.0 β USB β USB .
I try to get into each device to get to know its inner world better. In this case, we are talking about 10 screws on which the back cover is attached.
And under it ... I literally experienced an aesthetic orgasm!
High-quality milled body, black textolite with a white world map and all sorts of inscriptions. At first I did not understand the joke, but then kaaak understood !!! In the area of ββthe Galapagos Islands, a light sensor is built-in - as soon as it crawls out of the darkness, a three-color light show begins: the countries in which people who are involved in the creation of the device live are glowing in different colors.
As a child, I first closed and opened the lid to look at this miracle of engineering, and then did the same, trying to have time to focus the camera on the luminous elements. 10 buys out of 10!
The sensor did not immediately detect, at first I thought that the miracle was triggered by magnets / reed switches in the corners of the case. Free translation of the idea of ββthe creators: β It was always interesting for us to look inside different mechanisms, but almost always there was only dullness there, causing sadness and sadness. Although in the same watch, the mechanisms are damn beautiful. Or the power that is felt inside the car's engine. Therefore, we decided to add such a zest so that people looking inside could admire it, it made them smile . "
Surely there are some more easter eggs, but I could not wait to see what was hidden on the other side of the board. To do this, first I had to unscrew two screws of the battery cable, then 12 screws of the board and 6 screws of USB-C connectors.
All the circuitry is located on the back of the board: again, everything is very neat, only a few "stickers" on some microcircuits give out crowdfunding handmade in this gadget.
The connectors were specially made modular so that they could be replaced in case of breakdown. All this is a consequence of the application of the SURU philosophy in the product (there is about reliability, maintainability and the possibility of improvement).
There are no LEDs on this side anymore, but there are many abbreviations of three letters throughout the board, as in the credits after the movie. This is the first letter of the name and two letters of the surname of the creators (we didnβt forget about Mom and Dad), like, "we did our best together." You can't argue, really tried. Have you seen a board somewhere else with 65 creator names ??
Names are broken down into 7 categories, named after Daft Punk's famous hit "Technologic":
The drive - SanDisk X600 SSD M.2 2280 (SATA 6, 3.3V, 2A) for 256 GB - it's great that it is not unsoldered, but is an m.2 board. That is, if you wish, you can change it to a more capacious / faster one. Or cheat: buy a device in a cheaper version (with a small amount of storage) β void the warranty β change the disk for a bigger / faster one. For a local backup, this option will be much better and more durable than an external drive in a backpack pocket or a sticking out memory card (as I had with my previous laptop).
On the board under the drive is the inscription "Credits", and on the reverse side of the disk there is a little amateurish activity in the form of a piece of masking tape.
Actually, that's all. I wanted to show you this beauty, which not only satisfied my curiosity, but literally warmed me with its soulfulness in this cold autumn season. Small town:
Have a nice weekend!
