What we were told at the annual September presentation of Apple

This year's event was atypical, if only because not a word was said about the new iPhones. The presentation was focused on two products: Apple Watch and iPad.

What changes await us in the new lines of these devices and related operating systems, we describe below.

Apple Watch

The new Apple Watch Series 6 has the same design and looks the same as the Series 5, with the same size options. Under the cover of Series 6 is a more powerful S6 processor.

Which, however, does not have much effect on the battery life of the watch. Apple Watch battery life is usually not a concern for users, so the fact that it remained unchanged has allowed Apple to channel the increased resources of the device to other needs.

New colors in the line: blue, red, gold, graphite.

A special feature of the new series is a blood oxygen sensor, which in 15 seconds determines how much oxygen your red blood cells are carrying. Similar to Apple Watch's feature to alert users to low or high heart rate, Series 6 will send alerts when it detects that your blood oxygen saturation is low.

In addition, watchOS 7 will be able to measure VO2 Max. If its level falls below the norm, you will receive a notification.

Apple Watch Series 6 features the latest Apple S6 dual-core processor based on the Apple A13 chip - 20% faster than the previous generation.

Other new features in Apple Watch Series 6 include 2.5 times brighter sunlight-readable display and always-on altimeter with 1-foot precision.

Apple Watch Series 6 will also have new watch faces: GMT dial with multiple time zones, dial for counting lap times while running, Chronograph Pro with tachometer, Memoji dial and others.

The new watch will have a new Apple Watch Solo strap made from a single piece of silicone, as well as braided and leather straps.

Another new thing: the new Apple Watch will not have an adapter in the box.

watchOS, Apple Fitness +, Apple One

watchOS 7 will add a new Family Sharing feature that allows family members to control their relatives' Apple Watches — essentially a “kiddie mode” for the Apple Watch. Family Sharing is free in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and the United States. The launch of the service in these countries will begin at the end of the year.

watchOS 7 will be available to everyone tomorrow, September 16.

In addition, Apple is launching a new Apple Fitness + service with a complete workout catalog for iPhone, Apple Watch and AppleTV with world-class coaches, Apple Music integration and new workouts every week. Apple Fitness + includes virtually no equipment required, rowing, treadmill and cycling. Workouts are built into the Fitness app on iPhone, iPad and AppleTV.

Apple Fitness + will be available for $ 9.99 per month or $ 79.99 per year. 3 months free with new Apple Watch purchases.

Also this fall will be available a single subscription to Apple services: Apple One. It integrates Apple Music, Apple TV +, Apple Arcade, iCloud and Apple Fitness + and other services from the company. The prices for it are presented below.

iPad

Along with the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE, Apple has announced the 8th generation iPad with an A12 Bionic processor and Apple Pencil support. The new iPad promises to be "3x faster than the best-selling Android tablet." The device will be available for purchase this Friday for $ 329 and for educational institutions for $ 299.

We were also shown the latest iPad Air with an updated design and a bezel-less display. The new iPad Air features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with 2360x1640 resolution with wide P3 color gamut, True Tone and anti-glare coating. Touch ID is in the power button. Other features: USB-C port instead of Lightning and updated speaker system. New colors: Green and Sky Blue.

The new iPad Air also features “a huge leap in performance” thanks to the latest A14 Bionic processor. The CPU is 40% faster, GPU performance is 30% faster, and machine learning is also 70% faster thanks to the new Neural Engine.

In terms of accessories, iPad Air supports the second generation Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard.

The new iPad Air will be available next month starting at $ 599.

Additionally, Apple announced that it will release iOS 14 to the general public on September 16.

iOS 14 is a major update for iPhone users, bringing long-awaited home screen widget support, an app library feature to organize apps you don't want to leave on your home screen, and new compact interfaces for Siri and incoming phone calls and picture-in-picture features. »To play video.

Finally, the company announced Xcode 12 Golden Master for developers.

And we cannot fail to mention that our company took part in the demonstration of the technical capabilities of the new iPad, showing how the updated version of our multiplayer shooter War Robots Remastered works on it.
