Office mapping is a major challenge for a growing company, and for a serious corporation it can be a headache. Newcomers get lost in huge office spaces and cannot find their way from the meeting room to their workplace, old-timers are faced with the fact that colleagues have moved to an unknown destination - all this entails organizational problems.
We at IBS have had cartography for a long time (at least since 2010), and since then, alas, it has become critically outdated. Therefore, we recently upgraded our office cards by creating a solution using Visio, Leaflet JS and our own developments.
This topic has already been raised on Habré, but for a long time: several years ago (in 2012 and 2013 ), Positive Technologies also set itself the task of creating corporate cards. However, they went the opposite way: from drawing the Visio room and data in Excel to full-fledged layouts in AutoCAD with subsequent export to 2D, 2.5D, 3D.
We initially worked with AutoCAD, but today we came to Visio (as a tool for initial planning preparation), having learned to work with the format and use its functionality and flexibility for a number of non-standard cartographic tasks.

For a long time we used a self-written solution, the relevance of which was questionable for a very long time. In fact, it was a regular raster with the ability to search by labels. One employee rendered the floors in AutoCAD (not only for cartography), this scheme was saved in png format, the markup was applied in a web application (i.e., in fact, the maps were drawn in two places). That, in fact, is all. What were the disadvantages of such a solution?
