As the world is in a very strange state this year, and COVID-19 is affecting people, organizations and the economy, we decided to redefine the Microsoft Ignite format and transform it from a one-week personal event into two global free events, each of which will take place in 48- hour online conferences. The first event will take place on September 22-24, registration for it opens on September 3. We will also host a second Microsoft Ignite in early 2021 to add an additional opportunity to interact with our tech communities and share experiences on the latest and greatest products.
At the global digital events we hosted this year, we learned that we now have the opportunity to bring the entire global community together in one place to create a truly global event. For this reason, we are not going to host Microsoft Ignite the Tour events around the world this year; instead, Microsoft Ignite will bring everyone in the community from around the world together. In addition, the conference will provide opportunities for local communities to meet, as language localization will be implemented, and participants will also be able to gain new skills through Microsoft Learn and certifications.
Finally, I want to clarify that the second Microsoft Ignite event early next year will not replace Microsoft Build. We will continue to run Microsoft Build in a forum format that brings together various developer communities.
