The next generation of developers. How are they different and why is this normal

There is an opinion that a revolution has taken place in IT unnoticed. In order to become a developer, now it is not necessary to have a specialized higher education. Many universities in all countries are trying to introduce new teaching methods, but the education system is very "clumsy", any changes take a lot of time, and the market will not wait.



It is this reality that we took into account in School 21, where learning is based on a person's ability to find information. It uses methods without teachers, lectures, and assessments, and it works. Among the participants are those who have never programmed, and those who have some kind of experience and technical education.



One of the problems in the learning process is job offers that are received by a large number of participants, not even halfway through. Due to the high demand for developers, the programming profession has become available to almost everyone.



We decided to discuss the pros and cons of this state of affairs with the head of the IT department, the team lead and two participants in School 21.

This is just a part of the stories of the participants in School 21. For example, there is also an orientalist who has become a Java developer, an architect who is an iOS developer, a dentist who is a data scientist, and a specialist in railway transportation management, today is a leading development engineer in one of the blocks of the IT department. They all prove that the desire to become an IT specialist can appear at absolutely any moment and in completely different people.



It is very cool that our project provides an opportunity for beginners to master the IT sphere. Even if they do not have a technical background, the participants of School 21 compete on equal terms with those who received specialized education. During their studies at School 21, participants learn to receive information in different ways, to work on team projects. The result of this experience is the effective use of the knowledge gained during the internship and during full-time work in the company.
