A domestic company has developed a Russian storage system on Elbrus with a localization level of 97%

The Omsk company Promobit was able to achieve the inclusion of its storage system on Elbrus in the Unified Register of Russian Radio-Electronic Products under the Ministry of Industry and Trade. We are talking about the Bitblaze Sirius 8000 series storage system. The register includes three models of this series. The main difference between the models from each other is the set of hard drives.

The company can now supply its storage system for municipal and state needs. It is worth recalling that at the end of last year, the Russian government banned government purchases of foreign storage systems. The reason for the ban is the desire to ensure the safety of the country's critical infrastructure.

According to representatives of "Promobit", an examination of the level of storage localization was carried out earlier. Based on the results of studying the system, this figure was 94.5%.

“The company's engineers carry out a full cycle of product development in two centers - in Omsk and in Moscow. Housings, electronic printed circuit boards, motherboards, cable products, software - all of this is developed by the company's specialists and produced in Russia. The company has developed production processes at partner plants in Omsk, with the ability to scale up to 5 thousand units of products per month, ”the company said.

The system is a scale-out, fault-tolerant file and block access storage system distributed over multiple nodes. “Distinctive features of the product are ease of use, reliability, ease of scalability (the storage capacity can be increased to 104 PB, which allows storing more than 1 billion files), the ability to work together in one storage cluster of e2k (MCST) and x86 (Intel) architecture systems. The latter allows a smooth transition to Russian equipment at any stage of the life cycle of information systems, ”the company representatives said.

A domestic company has developed a storage system as part of a state project supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The competition was held in 2016, at the same time a financing agreement was signed. The maximum amount of the subsidy was 189.6 million rubles. The total project budget is 379.8 million rubles. That is, the company had to find 190 million rubles on its own.

In addition to storage systems, Promobit has also developed its own Bitblaze KFS software for managing storage systems of the Scale-Out class.
