Where is it more profitable to manufacture hulls - in China or Russia? We compared, use

Actually, every day, at least in one conversation with a client, the question is raised: where is it more profitable to produce, in China or in Russia? And every time I try to convey to the interlocutor that “more profitable” is just an adverb; it's time for facts and figures.

To understand, let's break down the concept of "profitable" into two components that can be "digitized" (because you digitize the quality of figs) - speed and price. Of course, in fact, there are more criteria, but let's simplify.

Let's compare head-on - one and the same project at different factories, the most polar in their characteristics, from a luxurious production to a garage cooperative of a small enterprise. We give them an estimate of the production of 500 sets of such parts:

And we ask them to evaluate separately the molds, production of parts. For the curious there is this table , and here, for clarity, everything important is highlighted in color (green means cheaper and faster, red means more expensive and slower):

For those who immediately say that everything has been paid for, avotheby no means - we worked with only two Chinese factories, and both of them are not favorites here. Actually, just this table is a reason to talk to them, they say, let's discuss colleagues, pricing.

But a note about something else.

What conclusions, after a thoughtful review of the table, suggest themselves?

  1. The main thing is that if you have six months, then you can work with Russia. If you need to quickly - only China.
  2. A company in Russia is either too expensive, or molds are made in China (i.e. everything will take a long time).
  3. If you want control, choose Russia or look for an intermediary who will provide this control in China.
  4. If you want it cheaper - China. But everything is not clear here; try to get at least a couple of reviews about a particular company. Or you need an intermediary - an office that knows where to look to see problems and takes on at least some of the risks.

And in order not to get up twice - try to talk to factories with documentation (models, drawings), it is easier for them to “think”, there are fewer risks, which means that the price for you will be lower, and they will calculate it faster for you.
