Phytium announced the imminent appearance of the 64-core Tengyun S2500 chip on the market. It is positioned as a processor for high performance computing.

Phytium is well known. It was its processors that were installed in Tiahne supercomputers, which for a long time were among the leaders in the list of the most powerful supercomputers in the world .

The previous processor model from this manufacturer is FT-2000 + / 64. In addition to the 512KB L2 cache, the new processor received a shared 64MB L3 cache. In addition, the chip supports eight DDR-3200 memory channels. The manufacturer claims the possibility of combining from 2 to 8 processors in one system. They communicate with each other using a bus with a data exchange rate of 800 Gbit / s.

The base of the processor is FTC663 cores, the frequency of which is 2-2.2 GHz. The company has already talked about them during the announcement of the processor of the previous model. The architecture of the FTC600 series cores is a modified ARMv8 with modified blocks for integer and floating point calculations. It also adds ASIMD instructions, a new dynamic branch predictor, virtualization support, and encryption and security blocks.

In terms of other specifications, the processor has a power consumption of around 150W. The technical process is TSCM 16nm FinFET.
