The explosion of streaming services

The market is "seething" with a huge number of streaming services. There are more than 200 of them - this includes the giants Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney +, as well as narrowly targeted platforms like F1 TV, which broadcasts Formula 1 races. And new players continue to enter the market.

Earlier this year, American telecoms corporation Comcast announced the Peacock streaming platform, and HBO launched HBO Max in late May .

All of these streaming services are striving to grab a piece of the pie and are waging a real war for viewers, spending huge sums on exclusive content. So, in 2020 HBO Max will spend $ 1.6 billion on the production of the show, Disney + - $ 1.75 billion, and Netflix - as much as $ 16 billion.

But before the streaming wars really began - according to Wired, they have been going on for only two years - everyone is already tired of them. According to Deloitte, nearly half of American viewers are annoyed by the ever-growing number of movie and TV shows.

Why users are tired

Too much content . Along with the growing number of streaming sites, it becomes more difficult to keep track of all the news. Moreover, it is physically impossible to view them all. There are so many shows that special guides appear on the network for their selection, and some viewers even return to watching regular TV, since it is much easier to choose a program there.

Too many subscriptions . Many shows are tied to specific streaming sites, where they are exclusively distributed. To watch your favorite TV shows, you have to pay for a subscription on several platforms at once.

But content can disappear from the library of a streaming service if its license agreement with the copyright holder ends. For example, for this reason, the TV series "House" disappeared from Netflix - users even wrote petitions asking to return it.

High pressure on budget. A large number of subscriptions does not in the best way affect the thickness of the wallet - it can"lose weight" by $ 60-70monthly. Not everyone canafford it.

Where is the market going

The modern market for streaming services is highly fragmented, so experts predict that the popularity of aggregators will soon begin to grow. They combine the content of several sites under one interface. There are already pioneers - ScreenHits TV was launched in May , working with the most popular platforms.

What do you think, is there any sense in such decisions, and whether it is necessary to combat "fatigue from streaming services" at all - we suggest discussing all this in the comments.
