Introducing Cross-Platform Push Notifications: Getting Started

Good day! My name is Vladimir Stolyarov, I am a back-end developer in the Client Communications team at DomKlik. In this article, I'll walk you through how to implement cross-platform push notifications. Although a lot has already been written about this, I would like to talk about some of the nuances that we had to face in the implementation process. For a better understanding of what is happening, we will also write with you a small web application that can accept push notifications.





First you need to understand where we want to send push notifications at all. In our case, this is a website, an iOS app, and an Android app.



Let's start with web push notifications. To receive them, the browser connects to its push server, identifies itself and receives notifications to the service worker (an event is triggered in it push). The nuance here is that each browser has its own push service:
