Mission:

Launch of the GPS Block III navigation satellite for the US military. The third satellite of the new generation. Launch on Falcon 9 (reusable) from SpaceX. The satellite has been successfully launched into a transfer orbit. The first stage has successfully returned, the fairing flaps fished out of the water.

The third generation of GPS navigation satellites (launched in 2018). Manufactured by Lockheed Martin. Each satellite is designed for 15 years of operation and provides broadcasting of an expanded set of signals for different purposes and consumers. Has more weight, durability and capabilities than previous satellites.

Orbit:

Transfer orbit to MEO: 356 x 20 172 km x 55 ยฐ. Final orbit of MEO: synchronous 20 200 km x 55 ยฐ .

24 standard satellites (minimum) are in six synchronous medium-altitude earth orbits separated by 60 degrees. turnover period twice a day. At the moment there are 32 satellites in the constellation.
