Even before the start of the coronavirus pandemic in Russia, the thought occurred to me: "Can I somehow mitigate the economic consequences of the epidemic?" The idea came up almost immediately: "If many people have the potential to lose their jobs, then I have to help them learn new skills in an area with a high demand for labor." And since I have been programming in C / C ++ for quite a long time, I decided to teach people programming in ... python in my spare time.
Teaching python programming
Why did I choose python? The main reason was the simplicity of the language, its prevalence and the high availability of quality teaching materials. I posted my post on a pick-up with an offer to help me learn python programming for free, and away we go.
About teaching methodology
For effective teaching, I initially chose several strategies.
Free online courses
I immediately realized that I could not teach people from scratch - I myself do not use python on an ongoing basis. Therefore, I chose the following format of work. I found one great free python course with problems .
I invited picabu users to the VK group and announced that I myself would answer simple questions from the pythontutor as a mentor. One of the first problems immediately surfaced: Python did not have a mobile version. People wanted to take a python course on a smartphone. Unfortunately, the only thing I could help in this case was to advise the free sololearn mobile app.

In the plans for the future we want to carry out some more interesting activities: to develop a training track for a web developer in python; hold, if possible, webinars on the development of simple games in pygame; create a simple wireframe for learning web development. And, of course, we plan to continue to continue to answer questions on courses in basic python.
Ultimately, I want to say that I hardly managed to somehow significantly influence the consequences of the coronavirus for the Russian economy, but I got an excellent experience, many members of the group tried themselves in development, someone got motivated to take action and got a job on work.
