"Hackathons can be used for hiring": experience of the organizer of 35 hackathons

The study was carried out for two reasons at once.



Firstly, to clearly articulate the hackathon values for the participants and, as a result, conduct our events even better and create the very hack atmosphere that is widely talked about in the IT community.



Secondly, we plan to conduct hackathons, which will be a full-fledged recruiting tool . Therefore, we first decided to understand whether this is interesting for hackers (a “hacker" is a member of a hackathon, not a cracker of government sites).



It is believed that using hackathons for hire is simply inefficient. After 35 hackathons, we realized that the point is not that a hackathon is a bad tool, but that they do not know how to use it. Often companies do not know how to highlight their advantages in order to interest hackers.
